Snares sound funny. Less of a popcorn like sound, more like a snapping sound. Interesting.

@mikey16piet I personally play the tenors, but I just thought the Basses were being under-minded. Calm yo titties dawg. Why you mad?

Does anyone have that lick from 0:12 to 0:14 transcribed?
mikey16piet
18. Dec, 2010
@AntiTeeVee No one wants to see the bassline. It just sounds cool, it doesn’t look cool. I’d much rather see tenors sweeping, than one hand of a bass drummer.

@OndrausCissell I think last time I heard it was in Cavies’ snare feature 2004. It’s on YT somewhere. Cavaliers 2004 book 2.

How do you do that Stick Spinning that Paul does, when he performs his solo in the re-visited version? [He rolls and flips his right-hand stick around] If there is a tutorial for this on Youtube that’d help a lot. Thanks =)

@TheMippo such a troll! this guy is sick, mallets or not!
maybe if i use mallets ill magically be able to play the end!
Cheznikkkk
18. Dec, 2010
@TheMippo
Ehh, not really. As far as I understand, mallets were the natural choice since the modern tenor evolved from the single tenors and the timp toms of the past. Now, while it may be easier to move a set of mallets around, MOST writers use it for the big fat sound instead of the thinner sound of a stick.
I’ve yet to see a good book where the writer waters sections because they’re played with sticks instead of mallets.
TheMippo
18. Dec, 2010
@Cheznikkkk It means the point of using mallets is so you won’t hit the rim and can do scrapes with ease. The added width to the diameter of the tip is designed so that you won’t hit the rim.

@Cheznikkkk That’s kinda the whole point of using mallets.

18. Dec, 2010
@awsomedrummer2 Well, he doesn’t necessarily suck. He just need’s to greatly work on backsticking and his consistency of each hand, then, his left hand won’t hit harder than his right.

@shadows9209 THE HULKA HELICOPTER!=D and the one he uses here i believe is the one casey brohard from blue devils does. His is more of a triplet feel claw, which i don’t attempt cause i’m just not a fan. I’m more so a Cavies person myself so i go for the original claw the Casey Claw which was invented by Mark Casey of The Cavaliers between91-93? i know they first used it in 94 and again in 95 with none other then Scott “Hulka” McCoy=D
